This is an antique RS Prussia porcelain mustard pot with gold stenciling and floral accents.
The Reinhold Schlegelmilch porcelain factory, commonly known as RS Prussia, operated in Suhl, Germany, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The company became renowned worldwide for producing delicate, highly decorative porcelain items featuring exquisite floral motifs and intricate gold-encrusted stenciling. Their products were extensively exported to the American market, where they captured the Victorian and Edwardian passion for ornate dining accessories. Specialized tablewares such as mustard pots, marmalade jars, and chocolate sets were crafted to meet the demands of affluent households hosting formal breakfasts and teas. These small pieces often incorporated mold-pressed shapes like hexagonal bodies and fitted lids, complemented by master artisans using both transfer printing and hand-painting techniques. Today, surviving examples remain cherished by collectors of early 20th-century European porcelain for their refined craftsmanship and elegance.
