History & Background

Ronson was founded in Newark, New Jersey in 1886 and became one of the world's leading manufacturers of lighters and smoking accessories. The company introduced the first practical automatic lighter in 1926 and produced many iconic designs including the Queen Anne, which features an ornate period-style housing. Ronson table lighters from the 1930s through the 1960s are actively collected and represent one of the most accessible areas of mid-century decorative metalwork. Working examples in good cosmetic condition command a premium.
